Telos a stone's throw from the tube: a practical guide to avoid walking too much

The Buenos Aires subway carries nearly a million people every day. Therefore, if you are one of those looking for love hotels near the subway, this means of transport is your best ally to avoid taxis, dodge the traffic and not expose yourself more than necessary on the street.

Furthermore, having a registered short-stay motel near the underground station is by no means a whim; on the contrary, it is smart and practical, since when you leave the station you won't have to walk fifteen blocks, let alone wander around aimlessly. Practically, you get off the train, open the door to the room and the rest doesn't matter.   

To shed more light on the matter, I've brought this roadmap with the six certified options for each line of the network. There you will find the exact addresses, price range, and opening hours, including both budget hotels and suites with luxury amenities. Stay and see, and choose what suits you best. 

Line A: tradition and direct connection to the centre

This line holds the title of being the oldest in the whole of Latin America. On its route it crosses the city's historic quarter, leaving you right in the “barrio” of Once; considered one of the areas with the highest concentration of short-stay hotels in the entire capital.

Dallas Hotel – Motel

• Address: 224 Ecuador, Balvanera.
• Distance: It is located 2 blocks from Plaza Miserere/Once station (Line A).
• Timetables 24-hour reception.
• Prices: From $33 USD per shift.

The Dallas is your classic love hotel that is practical, well located and pretty decent. Its biggest strength is precisely its location. You get off the tube, walk a couple of blocks down Ecuador Street and you're there. 

The rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a TV and a private bathroom. Although it has a traditional feel, you’ll find themed rooms here and even some with a jacuzzi. It’s undoubtedly a reliable option for a midweek getaway that won’t let you down.

Line B: northbound access from the centre

Line B runs from Leandro N. Alem Avenue to Villa Urquiza Avenue. As it runs along Balvanera Avenue, you’ll find yourself in an area with a wide range of temporary accommodation options.

Hotel Madison

• Address: 3015 Perón, Balvanera.
• Actual distance: It is situated about four blocks from Pueyrredón station (Line B) and is also very close to Corrientes station (Line H).
• Timetables Reception is open 24 hours a day.
• Prices: From around $25,000 per shift.

The Madison is a true neighbourhood classic. Situated on Perón Street, right in the heart of Balvanera’s shopping district, the noise of the traffic is part of the atmosphere, but that doesn’t detract from how reliable it is. 

Here you won't find whirlpool baths or extravagant decoration, but the rooms are spacious, with beds queen and bathrooms in optimal condition. So without a doubt it is the right one to sort things out quickly, without the pretensions of a hotel boutique.

Line C: the terminal connector

It is one of the shortest lines on the map, but it has great strategic value as it connects directly with the Retiro and Constitución railway terminals. Therefore, whether you are just passing through or are one of those who use the train, knowing this station will put some good hourly hotels right at your fingertips.

Origen Hotel – Motel

• Address: 1719 Pavón Avenue, Constitución.
• Distance: It is located 4 blocks from the Entre Ríos station (line E) and about 9 from the Constitución station (line C).
• Timetables Overnight stays are from 01:00 on Fridays, while on Saturdays and Sundays it is from 02:00.
• Prices: From $26,500 (standard) to $42,400 (Cinema Suite).

Hotel Origen is one of the few that understands not everyone travels with the same plan in mind. This place offers you six room categories, ranging from the basic with a bed queen right up to its famous Cinema Suite, which, for $42,400, includes a cinema projector, themed décor, a double whirlpool bath, a private garage and a minibar. 

They also serve a continental breakfast between 7.00 am and 11.00 am. Although the area isn’t particularly pleasant at night, staying in the suite is well worth the effort.

Line D: the north-south route that runs through Palermo

Line D connects the downtown area (Cathedral) with Núñez (Congreso de Tucumán), passing through the most sought-after neighbourhoods such as Recoleta, Palermo and Belgrano. It is the preferred line for those looking for hourly hotels, as the selection is prolific.

Hotel Eclypse 

• Address: Jufré 433, Villa Crespo.
• Actual distance: It is located about 6 blocks from Malabia station (on Line B).
• Timetables It offers 3-hour shifts from Sunday to Friday. Weekday overnight stays start from 06:00 until 13:00, and on Saturdays from 07:00.
• Prices: They range from $40,000 (the standard room) to $55,000 (the suite with a whirlpool bath).

The Eclypse has so much vibe that the four categories of its suites are named after planets, thus marking its level of themed design. The more budget-friendly rooms come with just the essentials to hang out without any hassle, like air conditioning, a TV and a mini-bar. 

But if you want to take things a step further, the suite with a whirlpool bath, Scottish shower and armchair is just the ticket. What’s more, they offer a comprehensive bar service and a private garage. Although this option is a little more expensive than average, it’s still ideal if you need a special place to take your date to the next level.

Line E: Connecting the south

Line E starts from Retiro and reaches Plaza de los Virreyes, crossing several neighbourhoods in the centre and south of the city, where hourly accommodation options are currently growing.

Hotel Plus

• Address: 1484 Independencia Avenue, San Cristóbal.
• Actual distance: You'll find it just 3 blocks from San José station (Line E).
• Timetables They have 2 and 3-hour shifts every day. Overnight stays from Sunday to Thursday are from 23:00, on Fridays from 02:30 and on Saturdays from 04:30.
• Prices: Prices range from $28,000 (for the basic suite) to $55,000 (for the Imperial suite).

At the Plus hotel they are clear that not all outings require the same level of production, which is why they offer six different categories. A good option is to start in the basic suite, which already comes with a whirlpool bath, or go to the other extreme with the Imperial suite, which is a duplex with two bathrooms and two televisions. 

There are also the executive rooms, which are quite spacious, and as you go up in category, premium details appear like the 55″ curved screens and top-end audio. The overall design is modern and without excessive decoration. 

Line H: the modern east-west connector

Line H is one of the newest additions to the network. It links the Parque Patricios area (Hospitales station) with the Recoleta neighbourhood right at Facultad de Derecho station, successfully crossing the city from south to north and connecting with almost all the other lines.

Hotel FATSA

• Address: Deán Funes 1251, San Cristóbal.
• Actual distance: It is located 3 blocks from the Humberto 1.º station (Line H) and the Jujuy station (Line E).
• Timetables 24-hour reception open.
• Prices: You must check directly with the hotel.

Here we need to make a special alto, as the FATSA is a hotel owned by the Argentine Health Workers’ Association (ATSA). This means it is a trade union-run establishment designed for social tourism, holidays for members or therapeutic stays. 

If you come asking for hourly rates, they’ll look at you funny; however, we’ve left it on the list because the location is brilliant and reviews highlight that the cleanliness is A-one and that they also serve a full breakfast; but bear in mind that this hotel is better for booking a room and spending the whole night if you are travelling.

How to get to each one?

• Dallas Hotel (Line A – Once): Get off at Plaza Miserere station, and head towards Ecuador street, keep walking for two blocks until you cross Perón street.
• Hotel Madison (Line B – Balvanera): You get off at Pueyrredón station, walk two blocks along Avenida Pueyrredón to Perón street, turn and walk another half block.
• Origen Hotel (Line E – San Cristóbal/Constitución): Get off at Entre Ríos station (Line E) and walk about 4 blocks. (Discard the option of going to Line C at Constitución because you'll walk at least another 10 blocks or so).
• Hotel Eclypse (Line B – Villa Crespo): Get off at Malabia station on Line B and walk about 6 blocks.
• Hotel Plus (Line E – San Cristóbal): Get off at San José station, walk about two blocks along San José street to Independencia avenue and, as you turn the corner, you'll see it.
• Hotel FATSA (Line H or E): To get there, you get off at Humberto 1.º station (Line H) or Jujuy (Line E) and walk a bit more than a block and a half to Deán Funes Street.

Which Underground line has the most love hotels near it?

Line A in the Once/Miserere area and Line E (Constitución) are the lines with the highest concentration of temporary shelters, just a short walk from the stations. Similarly, Line B also offers options within easy reach of the altura in the Balvanera neighbourhood. 

What is the difference between a shift and an overnight stay?

A shift usually lasts around 2 or 3 hours, depending on the venue and the day of the week. An overnight stay, on the other hand, involves staying for the whole night (which almost always includes breakfast). From Sunday to Thursday it usually starts early, but on Fridays and Saturdays it starts later, depending on demand.
