What to do in Microcentro? - Places to visit
Many people think it is a neighbourhood where they see the obelisk, take a photo and move on.
Here I give you an idea about options to make the most of your stay in downtown enjoying both the day and its nights.
What does this neighbourhood in the heart of Capital Federal have to offer?
The first thing you need to know is that we are not talking about a traditional neighbourhood, as technically Microcentro is a financial area / zone made up of two neighbourhoods, San Nicolás and Montserrat.
These are nourished by a great variety of options to make our stay a memorable experience: hotels and restaurants of category for all budgets, bars with our famous craft beers without forgetting the discotheques that have many options for all tastes from the usual "after office" to parties that last until dawn.
Let's start by choosing our place to stay, this will depend on our budget and tastes:
Hotels in Microcentro:
The most strategic place to stay is near the Obelisk, being Diagonal Norte, Corrientes Avenue and 9 de Julio Avenue (between Santa Fe and Mayo Avenues) the streets that will guide us to this point.
The golden rule to follow is the closer we are the easier it will be to get to most of the places I am going to mention throughout this introduction and it will also make it easier for us to find our way around when we are on the street without having to use our mobile phone so much.
In Microcentro we have hotels of all kinds. A good recommendation is to choose a hotel with a category higher than 3 stars.. In this way, it will not only give us more comfort but also more security and peace of mind over our objects, something that may not happen in other types of accommodation such as hostels or shared rooms.
In short: you will find options for all budgets, even the most luxurious and comfortable.

Restaurants in Microcentro:
As far as restaurants are concerned, we are known worldwide for the quality of our meat, but there is also a wide variety of dishes to try and fall in love with Argentinean gastronomy. You just have to think about what you want to try that day.
If it's meat, you're going to find it in all its forms: Traditional Argentinian barbecue (a MUST!)hamburgers (national and international chains), the ever-present milanesas, bife de chorizo, roast chicken, etc.
Due to the immigration that took place in the country at the beginning of the 20th century, especially in Buenos Aires, we will find European options that are deeply rooted in the Argentine cuisine such as pasta (I personally recommend Broccolino) and empanadas.
If you are a good eater you can choose to visit the famous bodegones, where food is served in abundance and everything is exquisite. They have a wide menu so you can choose whatever catches your eye and the best thing of all is the prices. They are ideal to try some of the local dishes.

The Sistema Único de Boleta Electrónico or SUBE is the card that will allow you to travel on all bus lines, subways, trains and tolls in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires and several cities in the country. The card can be purchased at different official points such as lotteries in the city and unofficially at newsstands for between 50 and 70 pesos.
To recharge the card we can also go to several large chain kiosks which have machines to recharge our card, the underground is also an option.
One thing to bear in mind is that our card allows us to have a negative balance, up to -$39.
What is MetroBus?
System of exclusive lanes for buses (buses) that has different sections in the city, being the one that crosses Av 9 de Julio the most used.
This system allows us to travel at a higher speed due to the exclusivity for public transport.
Travelling by Subway:
The Subway or Subway for all, has 8 lines that cross and connect with each other throughout the City of Buenos Aires, we will name 6 of these 8 because they circulate through the tourist areas.
Closing times vary from line to line, with all lines opening from 5:30 am and closing at approximately 23:00 pm.
As previously mentioned we will pay our ticket with the SUBE card.
- Line A - with 18 stations, it has Plaza de Mayo in the Montserrat neighbourhood and San Pedrito in the Flores neighbourhood.

Travelling by bus:
Buses or colectivos circulate the streets of Buenos Aires 24 hours a day and do not vary much from the same system seen in other countries. It is advisable to avoid rush hours, particularly between 5pm and 7pm, as there is a massive influx of people on all means of transport.
Travelling by Train:
Now that you have seen the centre of Buenos Aires you may have some time on your hands and the train will allow you to reach longer distances in less time. The train lines are Mitre, San Martín, Belgrano Norte, General Roca, Sarmiento, Urquiza and Belgrano Sur.
Near the Microcentro we have the Retiro train station where we can take most of these lines and their different branches.
For guidance you can use Como Llego or Google Maps.
Other means of transport are:
Taxis
At the time of writing the bajada de bandera (initial fare) for taxis in the City of Buenos Aires is $32.60 pesos or 1.68 dollars.
They are generally convenient for short distances due to their price and have the advantage that due to the large number on offer we can take one practically as soon as we step on the pavement or book one by phone.
Uber
Through the application when we are registered we can order our uber using the map in real time. It is generally faster and cheaper than a conventional taxi.
Remis
These, unlike taxis, are ordered in remiserias and are cars without any particular inscription, they have a fixed fare in relation to the place where we are going, no matter how long it takes.
